Comme un Ballon
30-Day
Rooted in the spirit of “Comme un Ballon”, this project continues my exploration of life’s fragility, emotions, and aspirations through the metaphor of the balloon. For 30 days, I challenged myself to create one painting per day, each one shaped by the shifting emotions and unpredictable nature of daily life. These works are not just paintings; they are visual diaries, capturing fleeting moments of joy, doubt, resilience, and introspection.
Some days, we wake up ready to conquer the world, fueled by ambition and dreams. Other days, we feel weightless, drifting through time without direction, or burdened by an invisible heaviness that keeps us from even getting out of bed. And then, there are days where we simply observe—watching life unfold as strangers fill the streets, each lost in their own silent narrative. Like balloons tethered to unseen strings, we oscillate between control and surrender, between holding on and letting go.
“C1B 30-Day” series embodies that duality: the tension between intention and spontaneity, between mastery and the unexpected. To translate this balance into form, I filled balloons with acrylic paint and burst them onto the canvas, allowing chance to leave its imprint alongside my deliberate brushstrokes. For each painting, I used one or two balloons filled with paint, working within a restrained palette of three colors. This interplay of controlled gesture and chaotic release serves as an analogy for the way we navigate our days—sometimes with precision, sometimes with reckless abandon, always uncertain of the final outcome.
This project is an exploration of daily struggles—both personal and artistic—and the fine line between mastery and chance.
