Comme un Ballon (2023)
Comme un Ballon began with a recurring childhood dream of floating above the ground and seeing the world from above.
After moving to France, I began transforming the human figure into balloon-like forms as a way to explore freedom, fragility, and self-expression.
The knot of the balloon replaces the head, removing individual identity and opening the figure to projection.
The works invite viewers to recognize something of their own experience within these altered bodies.
The balloon becomes both a personal image and a shared space for emotion.
Lit Skins (2022)
Lit Skins explores the male figure through light, vulnerability, and the body beyond fixed identities.
The series uses minimalist representation to focus on the shifting relationship between light and shadow across the skin.
The body appears like a performer on a stage, exposed to its surroundings and to the presence of others.
Rather than defining masculinity, the work leaves space for different experiences of it.
The figure is vulnerable, sensual, and unapologetically present.
Summer 2040 (2021)
Summer 2040 imagines a future shaped by harmony, possibility, and a reconfiguration of the world we know.
Landscapes are transformed through folding, layering, and abstraction, creating images that sit between recognizable places and imagined environments.
The works deliberately leave reality unresolved, allowing color and form to suggest multiple readings.
Each composition becomes an open space where personal memories, expectations, and ideas of the future can meet.
The series reflects on the possibility of imagining a different world before it exists.
Dot Dot Dot (2018)
Dot Dot Dot — Sketches explores the gap between everything, nothing, and what we choose to place in between.
The project began as a way of reconnecting with art and developed across painting, street photography, and body art.
It reflects on the confusion, conflict, and possibilities of everyday life in the twenty-first century.
The works consider how we navigate uncertainty and create our own connections between seemingly unrelated things.
Rather than offering an answer, the project leaves the viewer with the space to connect the dots differently.
Human Basics & Studies
Human Basics & Studies brings together sketches, experiments, and visual studies developed throughout my practice.
These works document ideas in progress, tests of composition, materials, gesture, and different approaches to the human figure.
Some studies lead directly to larger bodies of work, while others remain independent explorations.
Together, they reveal the process behind finished works and the role of experimentation in my practice.
They remain open-ended rather than definitive.

BIO
Jimmy El Homsy is a Lebanese visual artist based in Rouen, France. Trained in Fine Arts and Graphic Design, his practice centers on oil painting and multidisciplinary research exploring vulnerability, emotional memory, and universal identity.
Driven by a need to address what conventional representation often hides, El Homsy’s work stems from personal experience and immediate emotional truth. For him, the canvas is a space to freely express an artist’s background, internal state, and unvarnished feelings in the moment—bypassing social expectations and traditional roles.
His core series, Comme un Ballon (French for “Like a Balloon”), depicts human figures rendered as air-filled latex balloons with the balloon knot situated at the neck (le nœud du ballon). By replacing individual faces with a pressurized, expandable form, the balloon acts as an existential metaphor for emotional tension, fragility, and the risk of rupture. Stripping away specific identities transforms personal experience into a universal presence, inviting viewers to project their own internal worlds onto the canvas.
Focusing on non-stereotypical representations of masculinity, his paintings examine vulnerability, emotional restraint, and intimate complexity rather than traditional strength.
His work has been exhibited across France and internationally, including solo and group exhibitions in Paris (La Bulle), Cologne (Grevy Gallery), Clermont-Ferrand (Galerie Artelier Reine-Mathilde, Les Arts en Balade), and benefit projects such as Artists With Beirut.
